I did a series of videos in 2020 testing my 5 senses and how well they could identify color. I did one test per day. At the end of the 5 days, I would take my results and draw a picture.
Day 1: Taste
I was given a variety of different colored drinks picked out by my wife. While blindfolded, I tried each beverage and based solely on the flavor, I was to guess the color. I was surprised to find that I guessed 3 out of the 6 colors correct. So for my taste character, I was allowed to use Red, Blue, and Purple.
Day 2: Touch
This test had me blind folded and feeling different colored play dough to see if only by touch I could guess the right color. I ended up getting 2 correct, therefore, I could use both Green and Orange for my touch character.
Day 3: Sight
If I was able to just have the colors in front of me, I would be able to guess all 6 correctly. To make this a challenge, my wife and I put paint inside of black balloons that I arranged on the ground in order of my predictions to cast my votes as to what the color within was. I dropped a knife on each balloon and found that I only guessed 1 right. At least I was able to bank Blue for my sight character.
Day 4: Smell
This one was fun as I was again blindfolded and given 6 different bottles of essential oils to smell. I was able to guess 2 colors correct based on smell alone since I could not see the bottles and they were all the same shape. I was then able to use both Yellow and Orange for the Smell character.
Day 5: Hearing
For this test, my wife held colored paper next to and behind my ear while I was unable to see her. She would crinkle it and make all sorts of noise. After doing that with 6 different colors of paper, I had locked in my guesses. Wouldn't you know I didn't get any of them right. Fortunately I was allowing myself to use black and white for these characters anyway, in addition to any colors I was able to secure in the tests. The Hearing character just ended up being black and white.
